In 2015 London Elektricity surprised us all with his first album in over five years. ‘Are We There Yet?’ more than deserved its influx of praise, now the Med School team has taken on the label boss’ latest masterpiece….
“London Elek tracks are ripe for the picking when it comes to remixing because I always tend to cram in far too much actual music, so there’s lots to choose from for producers. For ‘Are We There Yet?’, I just thought it would be a great idea if the album itself didn’t come out on Hospital but on Med School and also to get each Med School artist to choose a track and remix it.
We also asked some non signed ‘satellite’ Med School artists to be involved and in all my 20 years of doing this, this has been the easiest remix album to put together – it’s like all the artists were on their A game and were feeling the elements of each tune.
Some are almost like VIP mixes – Anile’s version of ‘Singing Ringing Tree’ is like mine but much better! Whereas Frederic Robinson’s remix of ‘Seven Days To Live’ totally re-imagines the original. Whiney wins with his brilliant deep rollout of the vocal track ‘Tenderless’.
The title explains itself – each medical student has scanned the original, dissected it and then re-assembled the DNA to create something totally new.
