MC Fava's 'Ten Years' selections

Posted On March 7, 2016 in Uncategorized

Ahead of our ‘Ten Years Of Med School’ show in Bratislava next week, we asked MC Fava to put together a playlist of music that’s influenced him along the way – and to keep up the ‘Ten Years’ theme, we have gave him the mammoth task of picking just ten tracks that he’s been enjoying during the past ten years…

Rene La Vice ‘The Calling’ (feat. Ivy Mairi)

“There are hundreds of DnB songs I could list and it would be hard enough to make a top ten DnB only. So I decided to just list one song – the one that was most meaningful to me recently. “The Calling” is only 1 year old but already made it into my all-time favs, also of course because it´s connected to one very special person.”

Logistics ‘Homeward Bound’

“Matt did so many classics but this one is mine! I had it on repeat few times already on travels being worn down, hungover, sleepy, happy, sad – whatever – this song makes me wanna cry, smile and scream at the same time. He always tells me about that DnB remix he did but I DON´T CARE haha, it´s all about that original vibe! My fav travel tune – home is where the heart is.”

Aparat ‘Song Of Los’

“Aparat is a brilliant German Electro artist who is famous for his live shows with band. His recent works are rather ambient and pretty epic. “Song of Los” will always remind me of an emotional moment at Sun and Bass 2011 when I first heard the song.”

Bloc Party ‘The Prayer’

“Bloc Party was definitely one of the Indie sensations of the 2000s. “The Prayer” was the first single of their 2nd album. There were few DnB remixes around as well but again it´s all about the original with its DnB like vibe and those amazing keys in the chorus.”

Radiohead ‘All I Need’

“Radiohead was always one of my favourite bands and was included in every set-list I played being a Rock DJ years ago. I really liked how electronic music influenced them more and more through the years. Brilliant band and live a proper mindblow. “All I need” is a mysterious ride. Close your eyes.”

Bjork ‘Hyberballad’

“Bjork is such a unique and creative musician. Even if you´re not into her music she will still be an inspiration. I am not the biggest fan but have few albums. And man, “Hyperballad” is such a tune – immense!”

Gui Boratto ‘Beautiful Life’

Being a big Techno and House fan from day 1 as well I definitely have to list “Beautiful Life”. This song is with me for years already and reminds me of great times. That´s what music does, right? Being a (bitter)sweet reminder. Kompact Records is a great German label by the way and Boratto a genius!

Kings Of Leon ‘Sex Is On Fire’

Kings of Leon are definitely special but again I am not a huge fan. Songs like “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire” are absolute hymns though. I really like the singer´s voice as well and being a songwriter myself I just have to say that this is a brilliant song!

Less Than Jake ‘Rest Of My Life’

Having a Skapunk band since 20 years I need to list a tune of one of my heroes “Less Than Jake”. No Ska here but an absolutely amazing Punk ballad. Co-writer of the song is by the way Mark Hoppus of Blink 182.

No Authority ‘Anabelle’

It might be weird to list a song I wrote myself for my own band but this is a very special piece of music and will therefore always be one of my favourite songs. It´s a tribute song for the female bass Player Louise Garforth who died while giving birth to her daughter Anabelle. We used to tour together. You can find a DnB remix I did with my good friend Enea on my Soundcloud as well.
